On the Morning of October 21, Jianmin Sun (the doctoral supervisor who comes from School of Labor and Human Resources of Renmin University of China),Lirong Long (the deputy dean of the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the Distinguished Professor of Huazhong Scholars, the second-level professor and the Pearl river scholar distinguished professor),Shanshi Liu (the doctoral supervisor who comes from School of Business Administration of South China University of Technology) attended the academic seminar with theme of “East meets west and helps each other: the predicament and outlet of management research in China”.In the seminar, these three distinguished professors delivered keynote speeches respectively. This seminar was initiated by The Research Center for Innovation and Strategic Human Resource Management at School of Business Administration in Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and was hosted by professor Jie Yang and professor Xinyan Wang.The faculty of business administration and graduate students attended the seminar.

At the beginning of the conference, professor Jie Yang gave an objective description of the performance of Chinese scholars in management research by analyzing their articles published in international journals, and put forward his views on the difficulties of and solutions to publishing papers by local scholars, thus introducing the seminar’s theme.

Professor Lirong Long introduced the psychological change of Chinese people by introducing the change of Chinese conception of procreation.He pointed out that most of the cultural psychology of the traditional Chinese is dominated by Confucianism, focusing on family culture and interpersonal relationship.Therefore, the traditional Chinese follow the logic of management from family to nation, while the westerners follow the legal system and the rule of law under the social exchange theory and the spirit of contract.He believes that after the reform and opening up, Chinese people's thoughts, values and life style have changed. Under the impact of western commercial civilization, Chinese people's traditional behaviors have been weakened, and the management mode has also changed. The combination of Chinese and western culture has become the successful characteristic of the traditional management mode in China.Finally,professor Lirong Long pointed out that, under the strong impact of western culture and commercial civilization, Chinese culture is in rapid change and still affects enterprise management, which may lead to the convergence of Chinese and western management, and Chinese traditional culture needs protection and inheritance.

Professor Shanshi Liu elaborated the relationship between the contract governance and guanxigovernance from the four aspects of the governance mechanism, behavior logic,personnel mechanism and incentive mechanism by four common problems of Chinese enterprises, “Is it true that Chinese enterprises cannot grow bigger?”, Is Chinese enterprises’ paternalism bad?, Are Chinese enterprises nepotism?, Do Chinese enterprises stresson benefits rather than on justice?.He also used many cases and research results to explain his ideas.

Professor Jianmin Sun introduced the current situation of domestic management research from the voice of scholars, recent debate and the dilemma of international publication and the challenge of publication itself. Then he elaborated challenges and methods of the process of localization and internationalization about the research direction and method of management. His speech made everybody have a more profound understanding and experience about the direction and trend of the localization of management research.

In the afternoon of October 21, the three professors had aface-to-face discussion with the teaching and research staff of the school of business administration and postgraduate students on many issues concerning the frontier of organizational behavior and human resource management research.They explained the differences between Chinese and western culture in management in a simple and profound way based on their own research experience. At the same time, they expressed their unique views on Chinese human management, foreign system management and contractual management.In terms of cross-cultural academic research, the three scholars also put forward their own opinions and suggestions on relevant research methods.The sparks of thought shine in the interaction,the professors express their opinions, and the participants benefit a lot.

At the end of the symposium, professor Jie Yangsummed up this seminar and expressed his gratitude for the arrival of the three professors once again.
