On the afternoon of January 28th, the School of Business Administration held a seminar on the establishment of cross-discipline at the Yingfu Building of the Mailu Campus. Professor Luo Shihua, Dean of the Graduate School, attended the meeting, while Professor Hu Yuchen, Chief Professor of the School, Professor Shu Hui, Head of the Doctoral Supervision Team, Professor Cai Wenzhu, Vice President and some teacher representatives attended the meeting. Professor Hu Haibo, Dean of the School of Business Administration, presided over the meeting.

Hu Haibo briefly introduced the main purpose and significance of thiscross-disciplinary seminarand pointed out that the work of discipline construction is endless, and the development of cross-disciplinary disciplines is the general trend. In the face of the opportunities and challenges of the construction of the new business discipline, we should follow the development trend of the discipline, seize the opportunity of development, and do a good job in the construction of cross-discipline in the school, which is a great event that contributes to the present and benefits the future.

Luo Shihua gave full recognition to the school for holding this seminar, and put forward guiding opinions on the direction of establishing cross-disciplines, taking into account the actual situation of the school and the development trend of science and technology frontier.

Cai Wenzhu introduced the background and current situation of the establishment of interdisciplinary, and put forward the preliminary thinking on the establishment of interdisciplinary, that is, giving priority to the cross-integration of business administration disciplines with science and technology disciplines.

The participants focused on the direction and name of the proposed cross-discipline. The meeting considered that “cross-disciplinary”is not a simple combination of two or more disciplines, but should be oriented towards solving theoretical and practical problems. The cross-disciplinary directions should not only reflect the characteristics of discipline foundation, trend, system, value and integration, but also fully consider the construction of faculty and the optimization of knowledge structure. And it should not only make full use of the advantages of the development of business administration discipline, but also focus on the combination of mobile Internet, social network, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, business intelligence, sharing economy and other new technologies, to find the inherent logical connection with other disciplines and cultivate new academic growth points.
